Stuart J. Rosenthal supports Charles W. Ranson Consulting Group as an independent consulting expert specializing in damages analysis for trust and estate litigation. A Chartered Financial Analyst with more than twenty years of institutional investment experience, Mr. Rosenthal brings to the firm advanced quantitative analysis, hands-on portfolio and derivatives management experience, and a methodical approach to constructing damages models in cases alleging breach of the duty of prudence, the duty of loyalty, and the duty of impartiality.
In this capacity, Mr. Rosenthal’s work focuses on the construction, calculation, and presentation of damages in fiduciary duty cases. In matters alleging breach of the duty of prudence, the duty of loyalty, the duty of impartiality, or the standard of care under the Uniform Trust Code, the Uniform Prudent Investor Act, the Restatement (Third) of Trusts, and applicable state statutes, Mr. Rosenthal works as an independent consultant alongside the firm’s liability testifying experts to translate the alleged breach into a rigorous, evidence-based measure of financial harm. Prior to his association with Charles W. Ranson Consulting Group, Mr. Rosenthal served as Senior Manager of Product Strategy and Development at Legg Mason Asset Management (subsequently acquired by Franklin Templeton), where he led firmwide initiatives across a $175 billion investment product suite spanning affiliated investment managers. Mr. Rosenthal previously served as Equity Derivatives Portfolio Manager at Credit Suisse (subsequently acquired by UBS Group), where he directed discretionary position and risk management of more than 100 separate accounts and mutual fund portfolios consisting of listed and over-the-counter options with a notional value in excess of $5 billion. Earlier, at Rampart Investment Management (subsequently acquired by Virtus Investment Partners), Mr. Rosenthal managed more than 300 concentrated stock and option-linked strategies valued in excess of $800 million for Merrill Lynch high net worth client accounts, oversaw the options strategy for Eaton Vance’s $750 million Enhanced Equity Income Fund, and provided protective equity advisory services for Clark Capital asset allocation accounts.
